ST. LUCIE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO DECIDE ON DRAFT LETTER TO STATE
AGAINST FPL'S WIND TURBINE PROPOSAL

FORT PIERCE - The St. Lucie County Board of Commissioners are expected to vote on Tuesday, March 18 on a draft letter to send to the State of Florida Acquisition and Restoration Council recommending that the council not grant Florida Power and Light's request for an easement to use public lands at Blind Creek on South Hutchinson Island for aproposed wind turbine project.

Commissioners are expected to discuss and vote on the letter at Tuesday's regular commission meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers, 2300 Virginia Ave.

Florida Power and Light (FPL) officials plan to meet with the State's Acquisition and Restoration Council in Tallahassee on April 10-11 regarding the company's proposal to erect wind turbines in St. Lucie County, specifically on state lands at Blind Creek Park, which is owned by the Florida Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund and the South Florida Water Management District and leased by the county.
